This publication presents the basic tenets of theoretical and analytical approaches to educational policy as applied in the teaching and research conducted at the Department of Public and Social Policy at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague. It also presents the results of the authors´ extensive research on teaching educational policy in the Czech Republic and in six other European countries.
The book is divided into three parts. In the first part, the authors outline the theoretical foundation of their approach to educational policy, sketch different approaches to educational policy analysis, and describe the different actors involved in the implementation of educational policy. In the second part, the authors present several analytical chapters that inform readers about selected current issues and problems in the Czech higher education system. The third part of the book presents the results of extensive, mostly on-line research on educational policy studies in seven European countries.
The authors of this publication believe that it will find both a domestic and an international audience, and that it will facilitate perspective national and international cooperation in the field of educational policy studies.
